Remove hd password

    I have a iomega ego encrypt portable hard drive , its password protected . i want to remove this so i can use it with another device (not a pc) i formatted the drive to fat32 which is what need but the protection is still there. it must be a protected partition or something .. can anyone recomend any software or advice on how to remove it .

    have you checked on the iomega site ?
    that is the first port of call as it will probably have special software


    password could be a hardware one on the drive or a software on on the data on the drive



    if it's a normal drive, you could try

    hardware password , can be turned off in a computer BIOS, but only if you know the password already, (probably have to take out of enclosure to do this )

    Plan B is http://cmrr.ucsd.edu/hughes/SecureErase.html
    this will KILL all data on the drive, forever, and there is a possibility that you could brick the drive too


    if it's software , delete the partition and format the drive
    dban will overwrite the partition table after a minute or two

    I cant get into anything on the drive unless i put the password in ... which i do know.It shows up as "Locked Drive " untill i put the password in .. then it opens up in Auto play . i cant see the program in the drive when its "opened".
    No luck on the iomega website . ill give your software recomendation a try if i cant get anywhere . Thanks for the help .
