Getting my box/card updated and only one Line-in feed??

    I signed up for a subscription to box nation this morning (online - as they only seem to be able to process online). Anyways, I only have one satellite feed - even though it's a sly hd box with sky plus functionality.

    How can I make sure that when Box nation send the update, that my box will actually update? I have come across this problem a couple of years ago - and I know the settings on the box itself can be changed to ensure that the updates (and the broadcast) both come through on the one input cable.

    If anyone can give me a step by step as to how to navigate within the sly box setup menu to make this adjustment, i would really appreciate it.

    Press
    Services
    0
    0
    1
    then Select (the 2nd 0 does nothing on screen when pressed)

    then in Setup at the bottom is Single feed mode

    Perfect - just what I was looking for. ;-)

    Thanks.

    Hi there. I tried to use that sequence that you suggested - i.e. 'services' then '0' -> '0' -> '1'

    But that didn't get me to the required menu. I fudged about with it for a while and found my way to set it as single input. However, despite repeated attempts, I couldn't get it activated. A couple of questions...

    1. Can anyone confirm the sequence of buttons I need to press to get into this menu?
    2. The box/card are expired - bought second hand. I just want to put box nation on there - nothing else. Is the fact that someone else was the original owner of this card/box causing any issue (when it comes to my efforts to get the card updated)?

    Thanks in advance for any info you can provide..

    The way I did it was SEVICES, then move to spanner, then, without looking at tv, 0 0 1, select but you need sat cable connected to lnb1 and not lnb2.

    did you do a software update when setting up box.

    Ok, thanks. Will try that when I get home tonight.

    No - should I have? I bought the box second hand. I have no idea how it was setup before. I guess I could check the firmware version...

    Is the following likely to cause any issue when getting it activated?;

    ok, i dont know a lot about box nation but I imagine they have an arrangement with sky, the sky card in your box should be white and if it was a subscription card that was cancelled it should still work as a FREE TO VIEW CARD ie it is still active but if the box was left unplugged for a time they card will go dead and needs a wake up signal so the way to do that is leave card in box for about 24/48 hours. There are so many channels now that dont need a card that it is hard to check when it is awake. from memory i think sony tv needs a freesat card ie ftv and channel 5 in some regions, ch4hd needs the card as well so try those.

    what is the make of the box and we can then tell you the latest software, for ease of use its best to have it up to date. there is a sequence, turn off box, unplug from wall, plug back in, then power on holding backup and wait, then a message appears on screen.

    ps if its not the white card then u need a new one,

    Ok, found my way back in to lnb settings. Services -> settings (spanner symbol) - then 0,0,1 - and arrow down. LNB Settings are set as follows;

    LNB Type = Standard
    Low Band = 9.75
    High Band = 10.60
    LNB Power Supply = ON
    22KHz Command = ON
    Single Feed Mode = ON.

    Question. Should lnb power supply and 22Khz Command both be set to 'ON'??

    Can get LFCTV and Viva - I believe these are Free-to-view(?). Can't get Sony TV - but there's no signal - so that's just due to dish alignment being slightly off.

    On that basis, I guess the card must still be active?

    Just updating system software now.

    Will give them a call again tonight and see what happens...

    ok, thanks. All worked out eventually. Was a problem with BoxNations internal processes rather than anything technical to do with activating the service on they card.
