Gap in the Race Calendar

    Hi Guys,

Noticed a big gap in the race calendar and its Easter. You may say that there are 4 races on that weekend and its true. They're all multiday though. I rang one of the Ras Chonmara organisers to see if participation was possible on a one day but CI rules forbid. You need a full A3 license or higher to enter and the other multistages would be the same.

Now there must be a lot of one-day/A4 holders out there who would like to see a bit of action at some point over that weekend.

I was wondering why the mutliday organiser's couldn't add on a one day race on to one of their stages ? I would have thought the extra effort would not be too much when compared to the work that is already needed. Thoughts guys ?

    Paul.

Good idea paul! But maybe they feel they have enough to do with all the additional work associated with stage races.

I would say organise one yourself but I dont know if you are a club member etc.

I don't see how it could be "not too much work" to add on A4 races to the Gorey 3-day, for instance.

FWIW... organising even the smallest of small races is plenty of work.

There's a massive amount of work involved in putting on a stage race. I can't see many organising clubs being able to pull off a separate one day race on the same weekend that they're running a stage race.

honestly, having marked the course last year for the donegal 3 day and marshalled as well, i cant imagine trying to run a A4 race on top of that

Mondello Park would be a good venue for a massive Easter A4 race.

Someone organise that. With lots of ambulances. Thanks.

Take Ras Chonamara for example. A one day on the Saturday would follow the same circuit and leave 5 minutes after the stage race. Your marshalls are already in place, you're finish line is there. Extra lead vehicles are needed, broom wagon could follow the one day.

This is undoubtedly simplistic, what am I missing ?

That people are already giving their spare time organise these races and couldnt be ar5ed with more hassle.
