2011 saw the Bridge Complex's first 10k road race and 5k fun walk.  This was a fantastic event for all involved and received much praise. :D

We have decided to follow the success of this inaugural event with a bigger and better event this year.

Friday 1st of June will see the return of the 10k road race and 5k fun walk at 6.30pm.  Registration is available on www.runireland.ie and we will also be taking registration on the day before and the day of the race.

Saturday 2nd of June will see the addition of a 100k cycle of the lakes at 10am and a family fun 10k cycle at 12 noon.  Registration will be taken the day before the race, as well as on the morning of the race.

Entry forms can also be requested from the Bridge Complex at bridgecomplex@eircom.net or 061 713065. For updates online check out Teach Na Cuirte on Facebook!

Just a quick question.. I was looking through the runireland.com events listings earlier and found this -> http://www.runireland.com/events/sixmilebridge-10k-road-race-and-5k-fun-runwalk
Is this the same event or are there 2 10k's on (which would be great)

When I put our 10k up on Run Ireland there was only ours, you are right though, there appears to be a 10k two weeks before ours. If you want to find ours on run Ireland follow http://www.runireland.com/events/bridge-complex-10k

If you are on Facebook you can keep an eye for updates on "Teach Na Cuirte"

I will look forward to seeing you there in June

I forgot to mention that entry forms are available and we will post to anybody not wanting to register online

I thought last years sixmilebrigde 10k was organised by the running club? So is this one the follow up to last years or is the other one which is organised by bridge milers running club the follow up to last year?

There was that typical Irish phenomenon, the split

The running club now put on their race in the middle of May and the Bridge Complex put on theirs at the start of June.

Last years June bank holiday race was organised by The Bridge Complex and Bridge Milers running club as a joint effort. Unfortunately, the milers calendar of events didn't allow them to work with us this year. Our race will be on the bank holiday weekend again, with the same route and format as last year and will be followed by a BBQ in the park as with last years event. I believe the milers are also hosting a 10k two weeks prior to ours but you will have to contact them re route etc. Hope to see you at both events

    Hi All,
Yes Sixmilebridge is in the happy position of having two 10k races this Summer!:)
The first one on May 18th is being organised by the two running clubs in the village, Bridge Milers and Olympic Harriers A.C. and the second in June is being organised by the Bridge Complex.
Both races are on Run Ireland and here is the link to the Bridge Milers and Olympic Harriers run as the link to the other race is already posted.

Bridge Milers did an excellent job last year at organising the 10k. Really looking forward to the event this year. See you in May

Best of luck to everyone involved and taking part in this tonight. I won't make it out unfortunately but I'm sure it will be a cracker.

Just 75 runners turned out for the second 10k in Sixmilebridge

    RESULTS

  • Registered Users Posts: 34 wvicky01

Yes, turnout was lower than expected, for any number of reasons. Great event though with heaps of praise given to us about it.

A big thank you to all those who took part, and as usual a huge thank you to all the volunteers that gave their time to ensure it all ran smoothly. These events require a huge amount of manpower and Sixmilebridge should be proud!

    Looking forward to next year
    :)

The weekends event was fabulously organised. i loved the 'pitstop' at Peppers bar in Feakle during the 100k cycle. Plenty of tea 'n cake:D. Kudos has to go to the Bridge Complex who organised the entire list of events. Will be there again next year. Hopefully, ye'll be able to build on the success!
