Anyone got thoughts on this. As Part of our build, the development levy incurred by us, was quiet substantial. close to 9k. With all this property tax talk, has anyone at all wondered, are the likes of our good selves, who have built recently, allready payed up to help maintain local services!!, are we being doubly taxed.

I suppose it's similar to your car. You pay vrt when you buy your car and road tax every year.

Yea, then you pay, duty on petrol/diesel and VAT on top of that, then you pay VAT on repairs, maintenance, parts.

Its not really though. VRT remit is not going towards the maintenace of roads as is say Car tax supposed to be.

My understanding of development contributions is that they are a contribution towards capital costs of infrastructure that has been built or will be built.
The household charge is for the provision of local services according to the Household.ie website.
Whether these are 2 different things, I'll let you decide, but unfortunately it appears that we'll be paying some sort of property tax( or charge) for the foreseeable future. Having recently forked out development contributions, plus additional fees for water connections, I also feel like I've been double charged and feel your pain

Listen guys, the posts here are about the household charges so Im going to lock it as it has nothing to do with our forum. If however you feel you wish to debate it further then find the appropriate forum and PM the details to me and I'll happily move it.
