Best of luck to him, decent player and a great leader. Even though alot of the calls for him to have a call up were knee jerk he definitely deserved more than his 7 caps.

Nice little career in journalism to fall back on and that new role at Powerday.

I think it's terrible he never got more of a shot with the Irish setup. If there'd been different coaches in charge over the last 10 years I think things could have been different for Bob.

I remember him on the 'Rock 'Dream Team' from years back playing some great rugby with Cullen et al - thought at the time we were looking a future Ireland superstar.

Great player and a great leader - best of luck to him in retirement.

Thought he was much older then 33 remember when he first started playing for Leinster he is huge but very lumbersome. Fair play has had a great career and be replaced by new Token Irishman Tomas O'Leary.

Having had the pleasure of meeting Bob a few years ago in London, can only describe him as a proper gentlemen, who was a great ambassador for Irish people in London. Good luck to him in his new career, it can not be easy re-starting your life at 33 work wise.

Please do not describe Tomas or Bob or any Irishman playing for London Irish as a "token Irishman" The club that they play for was founded by Irish Emigrants to play rugby. It is a home for thousands of 2nd and 3rd generation Irish people. They now are a professional club, trying to survive in this era (like our own provinces, who are not all Irish passport holders) .They worship their roots and the players who have strong Irish connections. Bob Casey was never a token Irishman, he is a proper one, and so is Tomas O'Leary!

Bob has had a great career. With respect to Ireland, the O'Connell / O'Callaghan has been nigh on impossible to break up. Ask Cullen or Ryan. I'd loved to have had the rugby career he had.

From the same town and have known him since we were kids. Is held in very high esteem by everyone I know.

Casey was a great player at his peak, but he was always rightly behind DOC and MOK. He could have gotten a few more caps, but it's not exactly a travesty that he didn't.

That said, he has always appeared to be an absolute gent and his column in the IT, which he unfortunately doesn't write any more, was excellent.

Sad to see him retire but I wish him all the best with his future!

I always felt he deserved a lot more caps for Ireland. He could run a lineout with the best of them!
