I saw this earlier. He seems to have some beef with CI, but he did mention (afterthefact albeit) that he is resident in Spain and obliged must ride on their license.

He probably should consider riding the Ras, the course this year is made for him ;-)

He says later on Twitter that you're supposed to get your licence in your resident country and he's resident in Spain.
To clarify. You are supposed to get your license in your resident country.

Reading his other posts on Twitter his beef with CI seems to be around Olympic qualification criteria.
officially I have to earn qualification with results/points. A stage win in the RAS is equivalent performance to 4th at liege.

Bit of a spat about nothing.

You take out a licence in the country in which you are mainly domiciled.
DM lives in Girona hence should have a Spanish licence (with an IRL code as many British riders living here have a CI licence with a GBR code and many Irish riders in GB have a GB Licence with an IRL code).
Not too sure what the fuss is all about here........

    As for Olympic selection..
The CI criteria are clear. Up to now Only Nico had met the criteria after Catalunia Dan Martin has now too.

Methinks too many people have too much time on their hands........

    Rob

How did NR meet criteria and DM did not.
Nico won a stage in Beijing. DM won more races in last two years & placed in a helluva lot more races.

    How does it work?

It might have been a bit of a spat over nothing but for him to call the federations fools is a bit much no ?

This is a link for the criteria http://t.co/0bXbhf2

It;s quite straight forward. One of the essential criteria is that the riders have to score UCI ranking points in 2012 to be eligible. Before Catalonia Dan martin hadn't....

Its very disappointing to read. As someone who has tried to do my very best for ci from the top to the bottom to read this coming from him in his position is crap tbh.
