Just wondering if anyone has recommendations for where to get carpets and wooden flooring in Laois. Want to use local suppliers. Can think of around 3 places for carpet but probably a lot more out there. Thanks.

We have always bought from Centrepoint carpets and are currently kitting our our new house with them.

Happy customers. No link to them whatsoever outside of our ongoing business relationship.

Will definitely get them to quote alright. Anyone any experience with other places? Leonards, McGinleys etc? Anywhere for wooden floors?

Wooden floors are a bit of a minefield, particularly when you are talking about solids.

We bought some laminate oak for kiddies bedrooms from Centre Point carpets which was good value. Our carpenter checked on it before we bought it. He put it down last week and we are all happy with the result. I'm not normally one for laminate but it looks pretty good, will wear well and fit within our budget.

I'd suggest that you first get a carpenter that you want to work with. They'd have recommendations on where and what to buy.

Locally (Portlaoise), telfords probably have the best selection I've come across. I've never been in McGinleys or Leonards show rooms though so they too may have an equally good selection.

    Good luck!
