Has anyone here experience with ace auto body. Long story short car was stolen 5 weeks ago recovered 4 weeks ago partially stripped. Car was to be ready Friday, after numerous call I was informed that VW have supplied pars wrong and parts will take another week to come in. Have complained to insurance company as they sent my car there.

It's entirely possible that the parts were supplied wrong. I stood in a main dealers and opened a packet at the counter to find the TOTALLY wrong part in correctly marked box.
Having said that ace might have told them wrong, Irish cars can easily have parts checked by reg with the dealers.

They are saying they gave vin number to VW and they supplied these parts based on Vin. Car was a demo model imported by main dealer.

Does Robin Sutton still manage Ace? I haven't used him in years, but when I did I found his work to be top-notch. Personally, i'd give him the benefit of the doubt.

I used ace to get a bit of bodywork damage done on my car about two years ago. They have a few branches around Dublin but I used the one on Richmond Road. I dropped the car off and picked up the rental. I was due to collect it the following day but when I arrived they said it wasn't finished. I asked would they not have given me a call to say it would be delayed, but they said they only found out late in the day it would run over because the paint job. In fairness they were always courteous and professional apart from this.

I finally collected my car the following evening and despite having to wait an extra hour while they gave it a quick wash, it seemed to be ok....as I was in a rush to collect my son I just rushed off. What appeared to be the manager gave it a quick look over and said everything looked brand new. It was only when I got home I noticed an area about 12 inches X 4 inches had paint peeled off. As it is a black car, it was only noticeable close up. I called up ACE and they asked that the car be brought back in to be looked at. they apologised and said that the area resprayed must have been damaged by the power washer when it was cleaned. They also claimed that the part on the car was faulty and must not have been primed initially when it was sprayed.

The area was resprayed again but shortly afterwards the same area look as if it was scratched or sanded and there were light white lines going through it. I brought the car back as it looked a bit shabby and they fixed it up.....the fix lasted a week before these sanding marks appeared again. They said they just polished them out initially but that they would have to respray it as they agreed it was not satisfactory themselves. At this stage, and as it was a company car, I just left it. About three months later, the plastic strip on the door that was repaired just fell of while I was driving....i brought it back and they said that the glue must not have been strong enough...they glued it back on.

A bit of a shambles all round, but in fairness they were polite and offered to fix up the errors when they were noticed....but there were a few too many of these errors for my liking...if it was being paid for out of my own pocket I would be a bit pissed as they know how to charge.

I suppose as long as they fixed it... everyone makes mistakes and all that. But your right that shouldn't happen.

Ace did a first rate job on our Passat after the wife demolished it. Cant blame them if they are getting screwed around for parts.
