I came across this key board yesterday while rooting in a friends shed, it wasn't his so I couldn't take it, but thought it was cool, very nostalgic looking

What is it, or was it, or how old is it?

    Its a commodore 64 - about 25 years old.
Ah the fun I used to have playing flimbos quest and waiting for ages for games to load off the tape deck.

That's the entire computer as well, not just a keyboard

It's not worth big amounts, especially in that condition. If it's getting binned why not keep it & clean it up?

Not worth a great deal, especially without the tape deck. The C64 is very common.

I would have liked to keep it, but his daughter owns it so he couldn't give it to me, if I'm back again I'll see can I weasel it out of there

You, young man, just made my day!

You're looking at the greatest selling computer model of all time. And do not bin it. ;)

If you want to learn how cool it really was, there plenty free emulators around (i.e. CCS64) and indeed hundreds if not thousands of games (abandaonware).

Legendary stuff such as Lucas Arts adventures (Maniac Mansion, Zak McCracken, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom) or shooters like Wolfenstein had their roots on the Commodore.

Yep, got myself the barebones and put in a Zotac Mini-ITX board, dual core atom and Ion graphics. Pretty neat. ;)

There's an Amiga mini out too from the same crowd. Surely the allure in getting a mini-Amiga is running Amiga, not a GNOME skin? The case looks fairly generic. Not worth the $345 barebones (or €2495 fully-loaded) imo.

Surely the pricing for their complete systems is way OTT. But you don't really have to break the bank for the C-64 barebone and it does have a top-class keyboard, didn't mind paying a bit extra for the nostalgia. ;)

Both of those are standard pc's in fancy cases. Not a 're-release' in my books. They're priced accordingly too
