Apparently its a weight issue with the pros, but can anyone explain what the benefits are in throwing away perfectly good water bottles, onto the road, as the race approaches a sprint finish, in A4!??

Saw that today in the Lucan GP A4 race with about 5kms to go. I nearly turned around to go back and nab it for myself!

Of far bigger concern is the amount of A4's who can't take a drink without wobbling all over the Fcuckin road.
Why people need to look down to find the bottle, then look down again to put it back is beyond me. Mine is in the same place every time I grab it, don't know about everyone else!!!

He needs a proper talking to. I would have done it myself if I'd seen who it was.

    Shameful and ridiculous.

The weight saving claim is a bullsh*t excuse in my book, even for pros. He needs to be disqualified for reckless endangerment. That would stop it.

Now if you wanted to be a real boss, stop pick up the dropped bottle and return it to its original owner saying ' you dropped this...'

Usually see lads emptying their bottles before the last sprint not throwing'em away!

I spose the flip side of this is idiots who drop a bottle standing on the breaks middle of the peloton causing mayhem.

I've seen a fair bit of this in the A4 bunch in the last few races I was in, and not just before sprints. Think they've just been watching the TdF too much.

I must admit it added to the occassion and tension at the end, I felt I was part of a high profile road race.

Then I looked down and realised i'm about 10 kilos overweight and 12 years past my prime.

I'm relatively new to cycling and I do apologize for wobbling a little bit :D

Yesterdays example was a peach alright, particularly as the bottle seemed to come from someone that was on the inside of the bunch, with the bottle flyin out into the middle of the road! As if the thrower wanted as many people as possible to see this projectile...perhaps its an act of intimidation??

Great race put on by lucan bytheway!

Wonder if it was the same guy doing a nixxer in the Dwars door Vlaanderen a few days earlier?...
“200 kilometers on Belgium’s worst roads. All ok. 15km from finish, peloton’s riding easy and a d—khead throws a bottle in my front wheel. Crashed hard.”

Couldn't wait til Sunday, I've now started shedding bottles at the start of Strava segments.

I keep an empty bottle of ballygowan in my cage just so I can fling it away as I power up to 18kph. Gives me a tremendous feeling of wellbeing.

Was on the sporting legends Tour last year out of Dunboyne, coming into Trim a Guy flings his bottle out from the group into a back garden of a house. I ask him, "What are u at". He says "I always wanted to do that, thats my house, I brought 3 bottles with me". Wish I lived on a main road.
