Obviously L4 at this time and moment won't take in Canon's 5D mk 3's raw files so I did a shoot where I shot in raw+jpg....I've extracted the files to a folder on pc but when I go to import via LR4 only the raws try (and fail)

It's not surprising that 5D III RAW files are not supported. You should be able to
read the JPEGs without any problems. What happens when you try? Can you
read them using any other software?

Is the camera doing something clever like storing RAW on one card and JPEG on the other?

move the jpgs into a seperate folder

light room is recognising you have both

then should be able to import them

Just use the latest beta of Adobe's DNG converter to get your RAW files into LR4:

Preferences > Treat JPEG files next to RAW files as separate photos.

LR might be recognising JPGs as duplicates of RAWs, even though it can't read your RAWs. Don't know about LR4, but in LR3 you need to turn this option on:

Edit - Preferences - General - Import - Treat JPG files next to RAW filess as separate photos

Yeah guys I took raw and jpegs and both in the same folder.
The Mk III is blowing me away, everything i wanted that the mk II lacked, the AF is fantastic especially.

so safe to say you are enjoying the camera ....I went into conns today to have a look at it ....feels similar to the 7D - which I think feels a bit plasticky (is that a word??) ...I was hoping for a more solid feel like the original 5D, seriously considering getting one.

Was a bit taken aback by the salesman .... didn't try to sell the camera ..actually more like he was trying to say I might be better off with a secondhand mkII.

Next problem with LR4 is... I can't find the slider that just adds light or brings up the face....

I used a curve for it in LR3 but I don't seem to get the same results in 4....

    Any ideas anyone?

Another thing I noticed with LR4 is custom presets are responding totally diff to how they did in LR 3 :(

They'll work normally if you change the process version back to 2010 in the camera calibration panel.

I had a 2003 option so I changed it to that. :pac:

I gotta say I am quite impressed with jpeg out of the mk III and at this time and moment for my style of photography i don't really see a need to go back to Raw.....am I mad?

/edit, brilliant!!! the old sliders all come back too...recovery/fill light etc!!!
