Newbie Question on WMC v XBMC

    hi i have tried xbmc,wmc with media browser,plex and mediaportal and have narrrowed it down to WMC with media browser v xbmc.

    The questions i may ask may be outdated but apologies if they are, i have been thrawling the internet and come across old link/information.

    I have two main requirements:
    1. watching stored content- wmc with media browser or XBMC both seem well up to this task.
    2. Watching services such as Netlix,RTEPlayer.AER TV.


    The second requirement seems to be the problem, i have tried plugins for XBMC such as VOD Ireland (the latest version) and they seems to crash a lot, therefore i have come to the conclusion the best way to access the content is via a browser, someone on the forum showed me Kylo browser for WMC. The problem i have is that kylo's home page is not customisable and putting link to rte player etc in the bookmarks section is a bit clunky.

    I then came across RE-Launch:

    This allows me to put a little icon in the "extras" section in WMC with whatever link i need. I have an icon which sais RTE Player when i hit the icon it lunches Kylo browser with the RTE Player web link. I then need to exit kylo browser and go back to WMC. I can click an icon that sais "netflix" and it again launches kylo browser with Netflix web link.


    What i am wondering is there must be a better way to achieve this either through WMC/XBMC.

    I would like it to be straightforward so the missus can see an icon or name and navigate easily to RTE player,4OD,Netlix etc

    I use WMC with Kylo and I find it great. I don't. however , use netflix and know that a lot of folk have terrible issues with it and WMC, I think ising it in Kylo from WMC is a good and easy option but why not just launch Kylo with a Tile for Netflix and the rest at the top of the tiles?

    I havent used it in ages but you tunerfreeMCE may also satisfy some of your needs

    i use xbmc on a apple tv, takes a bit of setting up and been able to configure it but its worth it to be able to play avi, mp3's through my ATV, also video add-ons live ice-films and liveonlinefooty (requires subscription), the art work and covers are great also.

    Hadn't come across relaunch before. It looks very useful, however I can't get it to work satisfactorily. If MC is in full screen mode (as is normal when using as HTPC), relaunch will just go to desktop mode. If MC is not in full screen mode, then it works fine. I will try a few more things t get it working properly.

    When trying to set this up, I stumbled across RTE player XL. Not sure if others here are using it, but it is a 10' interface for the RTE player, which responds to remote contol inputs too. Very good for a HTPC.
