    Quick question...
Lost my job in early Dec, and had a bit of a personal melt down over the whole thing.
Was totally depressed and not able to function properly. Went to counselling.

Anyways eventually went to SW office start of March...when asked for reason for delay in application i just said 'I wasn't feeling too well after loosing my job' sw officer just nodded and didn't take the matter any further.

My question is will i be backpaid from the date i lost my job or from the date i went to sw this month.

The date you went to the sw is when they count it from.

You can apply to have your claim backdated to the date your job finished. It is up to the deciding officer to back date or not.

If you are looking to backdate your claim, you will need to show proof of where you were looking for work for this time, and that you were fit and available for work.
So if it is Jobseeker's you are looking to backdate for, it sounds like you might not satisfy this condition.
However, you could put in a claim for Illness benefit - you will need to get a cert. from your doctor, and outline the reasons for making the claim late with the application looking to have this backdated. You can also accompany medical information from your doctore to support this. If you are going to do this, its best that you do this sooner rather than later.
