Bastille Day in Paris?

We are going camping not far from Paris - doing Disney on the cheap! I have allowed a full day to go into the city, as we want to see some of the sights

Just realised the day we plan to go to Paris is 14 July!

So is this a good thing or a bad thing? I'm guessing its the French equivalent of St Patricks Day?

Any tips? Will we able get taxis that day? Will the streets in city centre be closed off?

    Thanks

I've camped in France many times over the years. In general the big celebration of 14 July is on the evening of 13 July. The following morning everything seems to be a bit quiet, but the places wake up again by around lunchtime.
