Okay this has the potential to sound very stupid - but can anyone tell me if you can just walk into a public library and use their study area for as long as you want, or do you have to book it? Hoping to go to mine today to do a few hours work but have never been before so I'm a little clueless!

All libraries that I've ever used you can walk in if there's a place left.
They're often fairly contested so I guess ringing in to keep a spot wouldn't be a bad idea if your local library is reasonably busy.
Normally they also require you to give a fiver for collateral while you rent a locker, but you get it straight back when you leave.
