TEFL Course Offer Global Leadership College

I can't speak about this particular course, but as a multi-year experienced English teacher in Asia I can tell you that the better Asian schools are wise to the "online TEFL certs" routine.

Any that care about certification at all (other than looking white enough in your passport photo) require courses that include large numbers of hours of real classroom experience. The only schools I've found that accept online courses will also accept folks with no teacher training at all.

Thanks. That is what I suspected!

Hi. I purchased the course for 59 and I googled some info (obviously after the purchase) and it's not that bad. It might not give you the option to teach straight away but it's only the second level out of 4 or 5 and the higher ones do require some teaching experience. It's good as a start. You can't expect to be a teacher for 50 or even 450 euros if paying full price. Click on the link bellow, it's the website of the accreditation council for tesol distance learning.

Can I commence the course and do it until February 2013 (the date of expiry), or is it something like once you start you have 3 months to complete?

I got it through grabone.ie and the date was 15th May which was the last day I could register with the college. There was no deadline to finish it, it's 150 hours and it's up to you how fast you do it.

    Whats the difference?

Would it say on your cert you did an online course for X-amount of hours?

I actually wanted to do a full time course in a classroom, but they're like 1500 euro for 4 weeks, and still comes to about 140 hours

Most of my friends who worked EFL in Asia started with the Online / distance cert

    Hi Katulienka,

There doesn't seem to be much on things like grammer, spelling etc and how to teach these things to non-English speakers? Have you looked through much of it yet and come across anything?

    Thanks.

    Hi,

My GF bought me the same voucher on Pigsback a couple of weeks ago, i logged in today for the first time using the voucher number and noticed the name at the top of the page was hers. Im planning on doing the course. Can you change the name during the process or do i need to contact them to verify that it will be me actually doing the course?

Also, how are people finding the course? Is it difficult/ boring/ okay?

    Thanks
