Decided to build a new MAME machine, started yesterday and hope to have it finished and running for Sunday :D

PC it will be running from:

AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Processor Black Edition @ 3.6GHz
    4GB DDR3 1600MHz
    ASUS GTX560 1GB DDR5
    19" LCD

Wood materials and screws only set me back €15 in Woodies, bargain!

Nearly done, just have to add the controls, screen etc... and then off for paint.

How much did the PC components cost and what version of Mame will it happily run?
Will it manage every rom or is there some stuff it still can't touch?

    Moar Questions from the press!

What tools did you use to cut the wood and sand it down?

I'm guessing a power jigsaw was used anyways.

It will be running MAME 0.145 and I'll be using Hyperspin as the menu system. Hopefully it will run everything but what I have so far on the PC everything runs fine.

PC set me back €700 just before Xmas, taking a bit of a sneaky shortcut with my MAME build. As it will be in the same room as my PC all I'm doing with the cab for now is just connecting the LCD and controls to my main PC and run it from that.
If I wanted to move it to another room it will still function as I'm putting a shelf inside it for my laptop and I can run from that too :)

I got a mate of mine that's a carpenter to cut it out for me, he done it all with a circular saw and then I went round the edging with a router.
I'll be using 150-grit sandpaper to prep it for paint, and my brother will be spaying it for me using auto paint. Hope to have it primed tomorrow and painted then on Monday.

    Me likey, me wanty!
I am just using the iCade now, on occasion, don't know the last time I fired up the Ikea Cab, aside from the occasional Beers... might shift it on... makes me sad to see it go though :(

Wow, great (and very fast!) job. Bartop cabs are getting very popular now. I don't think i could go back to a full size one that needs loads of space and isn't easy to move.

Your paintjob is great BTW. Auto spraying FTW! I would recommend it to anyone doing a cab if they have the option.

Keep the pics coming. I love seeing other people's bartop projects.

    Any vids of it running?

That's thanks to my mechanic brother :D

I rang him to say I needed some spraying done, first thing he said to me was; "what did you do to your car" lol.
