It is not going anywhere, it is just getting iOSy and more annoying.

It's hard to take anything Gizmodo have to say about Apple seriously, but Diaz is an idiot. OS X and iOS aren't going to "converge" because they are already the same bloody thing. iOS is OS X minus the fat and with a touch interface. All Apple are doing at the moment is making the user experience across both OSs consistent. They are taking what they learned with iOS and bringing it back to the Mac, in the same way that they took what they learned from OS X to iOS. It's an extension of the halo effect that previously brought iPod users to the Mac. There's no "battle" going on here and OS X isn't going to die. How will people develop for iOS without it?

All of this because Apple aren't listing their OS X chief on their website's leadership page. Such a sh*tty excuse for journalism. Gizmodo paid for stolen property and when they were caught they tried to blackmail Steve Jobs and yet they still act like victims. They need to get over it.

The article argues the iPad is Apple's future. I can't see tablets fully replacing iMacs or PCs. I can't imagine writing a book on a tablet, conducting serious research or working on a spreadsheet. There'll be spike in PC sales once Windows 8 is released too.

What I am interested in seeing is a more converged user experience between devices and machines. iCloud pales in comparison to Dropbox. I'd particularly like to see the same apps and documents on all my devices automatically.

I dunno about that. I have an iMac, but since I bought an iPhone in January I'm using the iMac less. I scoffed at the iPad when it came out, but, for most people, it will be the convenience of not having to support a heavy laptop instead of something weighing a few ounces. Which is way faster.

Gizmodo are Apple Trolls. They are permanently banned from WWDC for whole iPhone4 mess. So they are left out of any press Apple sends out.

The result of this, is the majority of their news stories in relation to Apple are negative and show serious butt hurt.

For example their ground breaking stories like "What happens when ..."
    - You shoot an iPad.
    - Drop an iPad.
    - Set an iPad on fire.
    - Shoot an iPad with lasers.

(I'm not joking, these are actual recent articles).

Oh and they are also banned from a lot of major trade shows for screwing up CES with a TV Zapper.

TL;DR: Gizmodo are Anti-Apple trolls and should be ignored.

Add to this that Gawker in general are slimy (1 exception:Lifehacker) in general.
