Beth Ditto - so what?

    Beth Ditto is one of sixty people nominated to be one of NME's Icon of the last 60 years. Can anyone possibly explain to me whats so special about this person (yes, she's fat, so was Cass Elliot who did far more, but then again she wasn't "cool")? To put her on a list with the likes of Lennon, Dylan, Marley and Mercury is beyond ridiculous.

    Who the fcuk Beth Ditto along side the likes of Freddie Mercury and David Bowie is beyond me. When I heard the remark that NME is run by 1000 monkeys I thought it was a joke, but then again...

    Haha Lily Allen is on it also. I hate these lists NME publish every now and again especially the NME COOL LIST they put out every year (dunno if they actually still do this as I've not read it in years).

    I did read it when I was young and before I started using the internet but now I look on it as a teenager's mag, Smash Hits for the indie kids.

    NME is awful, up there with Hotpress in terms of bad music journalism

    NME seems to latch on to an average British indie band every now and again go on as if they're the next coming of Jesus. The View anyone?

    Those lists are an example of very lazy journalism too
