New UK V5

Got a brown letter from the DVLA here in the UK this morning. Thought I'd got a ticket of some sort but it was a new V5C, the UK vehicle registration document. It turns out that they had a load of blank blue V5Cs stolen and are replacing them with a new red one.
I had not heard anything about the theft so I would assume that it was not widely publicised.
So anyone buying from the UK at the moment would probably be advised to be vigilant if offered one of the old V5Cs.
No idea in what order they are being replace, mine has arrived but my wife's has not.

A friend living in London with a 2009 registered vehicle received his new red V5 last December.

The theft of the blank certs was widely publicised in the media many months ago.
