I am poor and my teeth are falling out :(

Basically right, my four front teeth are very, very loose. From the age of 12 until I was 18 (I'm 23 now), I've had a ton of dental work. I never had to pay for any of my treatment, because it was so severe and it went through the health board.

When I was 18 I had an operation on my jaw because I had a bad underbite. After it was all finished I got my braces off but had a wire running along the back of my front teeth, that would be there forever. About a year ago I noticed that my teeth were loosening and after some investigation with a mirror I realised the wire had snapped in half. It's still on my teeth, but just broke.

It's gotten to the stage now were my teeth are scarily loose. Like when a baby tooth is ready to be pulled. My heart is broke guys. I've been having nightmares about all my teeth falling out. All the years, and work and effort I put into fixing my teeth and now THIS.

I desperately need to go the dentist but I work part time and barely pay my bills every month. I applied for a medical card a few weeks ago but still no sign. I'm really terrified I'll go to a dentist and they will turn around and go '€3000 for a set of false teeth please'

    HELP. What should I do??

I needed to get a crown done 700euro for the front tooth and I asked by any chance would the medical card cover any of it and she told me they only cover 2 fillings per year, so Id say you will have to get a loan, I think you might get 20% back it you work

Its a common misconception but unless you have a medical card dental hospitals are not free, infact while not as expensive as private fees there is still considerable costs.

the same as any other place

    1 check up

    2 fillings

    1 denture every 5 years

    and some extractions

doesnt matter where you go in ireland for the work, your covered for the same tiny amount of basic coverage by the medical card..
