    Im sure it has been answered here already but does anybody know what all the planes SpanAir etc doing parked up on the Swords side of the airport?

    Been there for weeks now and I drive by them nearly every day

    All those a/c you refer have been returned from lease.
    In the case of Span Air and Malev the leaser is ILFC, they will use either Dublin aerospace and/or Eirtech to maintain/respray the a/c if a new lease for the a/c can be arranged.
    Both span air and Malev a/c are there due to the companies going bankrupt.

    Kingfisher a/c that are present are there because the company are having financial difficulties and either the lease was up or they were unable to financially continue the lease.

    Again, awaiting new customers who wish to lease the a/c.

    Some are in Shannon too, the malev are shocking, I heard some have gone for scrap.

    The baby 737NGs (737-600) are too high cost per seat to justify using except in very specific circumstances - you've got a regional jet capacity plane with the costs of a full narrow body.

    Hence there's more value in them to scrap out the parts that can also be used on 737-700/-800/-900s.

    Yea thats true too. But the malev -600 I saw was not in the best order! (and that wasnt going to the desert)
