Garda vetting abroad.. Help!!

Hello, just wondering if any of you kind people could give me some advice :)

Got a job in Scotland (yay!!) and this is conditional upon me getting Garda clearance in both the UK and in Ireland. Its the Ireland bit that's proving very very tricky... I cant get garda vetting because it has to be done by a registered organization, and the organization cant abroad. I also applied for a police certificate, but they very firmly told me that this can only be done in the case of adoption and visas abroad.

My only other option is applying for a copy of my personal information with an access request form. However the form states that this is not to be used as proof of no convictions, that it doesn't prove anything etc. Also, the office of that data protection commission also states

"Furthermore, it is a clear abuse of the right of access for an employer to attempt to require a prospective employee to reveal the result of such an access request. This Office considers that such practices constitute a breach of the Acts as the consent given cannot be considered to be free. Furthermore, any such action by an employer will be a criminal offence when Section 4(13) of the Data Protection Acts comes into effect. "

What do I do?! I've read previous threads but couldn't find any clear route to getting garda clearance for a job abroad....

    Any ideas??
