Cutting ope in gable, Acro Prop required?

I'm putting a window into the gable end of a dormer bungler (ground floor, approx 1.2m square.) The walls are block, 2 sleeve. The ope is being cut for a window that has been purchased. The builder I am talking to tells me there is no need to Acro Prop the wall, that they will simply cut, put in a concrete lintel and that we should not be concerned. Easy for him to say! He is an established builder, I've seen a number of houses he has built so I find it hard to believe he would get this wrong.

Can anyone tell me if this is acceptable practice?
