How to amplify signal?

Moved into a building with 6 apartment spread over 3 floors. The Internet for all residents is on the 1st floor and im living on the 2nd. The signal is awful. The best place to get it is near the front door of the apt but I'm at the back. Is there anything I can get to boost the signal so I can get the Internet.
