We have just set up a Parent Association in our school, and we are trying to organise a text message service from the school computer. We are a very small rural school and not exactly sure what is required, the hand out messages are getting lost in transportation!!!!. Any help and information is much appreciated.

Why not get a free pre pay sim from one of the networks and use their webtext service. O2's is probably the best as you can set up groups and schedule. Although with any of these services their can be problems sometimes

just register your mobile phone online

Buy a cheap Android phone and connect it to a school PC or laptop via wifi with this app http://www.airdroid.com

€10pm should give you plenty of out going text messages (for example you get 5,000 pm with 48months.ie).

Airdroid will also allow you to read, manage and review any responses all on the PC/laptop.

+1 for cabbage. It's fantastic. Just add everyone to the contact list and you can schedule texts. It does need to be registered with an account (vodafone/o2/meteor) so you're just using the main number so be wary of charges regarding texts to other networks or free texts (o2 have 500/mth).

If you want to go more commercial you can use a provider like:

    neonsms.ie

    and many others.
