    Hi guys, new to this forum so if this thread is in the wrong place please feel free to merge it or anything, mods feel free...

    First off Im not looking for medical advice as I know its against forum rules.

    Recently I took the discussion to get me knee looked at after a few months of just thinking its little nick. So whats the problem well the result is;

    ''Small effusion in the joint. No bone bruising. Tear in the posterior horn of the medial meniscus extending to the inferior surface. Small Meniscal cyst at the anterior aspect of the meniscus with a probable far peripheral tear in the anterior horn.

    I have my appointment with the specialist next month, so I'll find out the exact damage then, have any of you guys have similar problems...

    Cheers..

    No advice, just my experience:

    Two years ago - almost to the day (arghh), I had "an oblique tear of the posterior horn of the medial meniscus" along with "extensive oedema of the proximal tibia" (bruising). Fortunately "the cruciate and collateral ligaments were intact". In July 2010 I had a knee arthroscopy, which was "successful".

    After more pain and rehab than I expected, I was back doing easy running in September. By Feb 2011, I set a 5K PB and several more during last year. I still feel discomfort (stiffness) after every hard run and regularly ice my knee after a session. I am glad I had the athroscopy but if I injured it now, I don't know if I would go through it all again.

    Cheers for your reply, as far as the report goes I will be getting the athroscopy done, I hope to be running fit again within two months hopefully.

    To be honest I didn't expect to hear that your still suffering a bit from stiffness, I know everyone is different in this situation, but i thought the surgery would help. Again thanks for your info.

    Best of luck!!

    Don't get me wrong, my knee is 90% better than it was. Before surgery I could not run at all, now I can.

    The time to recovery will vary so be careful about setting targets.
