I've just been viewing my paye anytime account.

I see it says that in 2010 I paid around €600 in tax. However, I didn't earn enough that year to even hit the lower tax bracket!

If I request a P21 balancing statement, should I receive this tax back?

My guess it was the USC.

If you're due a tax refund, a P21 is the only way to get it.

I think that comes under a different heading though.

I'm assuming you are reading that from your Pay and Tax details field on the 2010 tab. If you believe you have overpaid PAYE in 2010, just click the request a P21 link. If a refund is due it will issue automatically to you.
