I hear Ashley Young has some followers.

I'm going with RVP anyway. I captained him away to Villa and he produced the goods so I'm going to keep the faith with him this week.

I kind of like the way both Rooney and RVP are home and away at the same time all the time. It puts a bit more effort into deciding between the pair each week.

I'm tempted to go with The Yak!

Young or Valencia might be worth a punt .

Rooney for the simple reason that hes playing monday and theres nothing worse than thinking you are having a good week only for the monday match to spoil it! In all honesty though im 50/50 on each so am going for rooney for the reason he plays second.

I'm surprised he's only been selected by 0.7% on FFS captain poll. I know Blackburn are away but they're playing better away this season.

Ha, I only made this poll for a laugh because it was late on a Thursday night with no poll and we've usually had the "proper" poll up for a few days.

And having only put 2 names there, we've now got one of the most eclectic selection of captain choices we've had since the forum began!

Yak, Valencia, Young... feck off, you all would have picked RVP or Roo if I gave you those choices. :P

They are both fighting relegation too. Blackburn have a tough run so they should be going all out against a team like Bolton.

Bolton need the win desperately. More even than Blackburn. It's hard to tell how they'll be affected after last weekend, they could be totally inspired, or they could find it difficult to be back on the pitch, which would be totally understandable giving the events of last weekend

I know I'm biased but Bolton aren't as good a team as Blackburn. They have a better manager but they don't have the players.

The Yak and Hoilett are in great form. If I was to bring one in, my only worry would be which one at present.

Interesting to see that Rooney is winning the poll here but RvP has twice the percentage of votes he does on FF Scout.

RVP all the way. He could have had three v Everton, Villa are weaker than Fulham (despite last weeks result) and Roo has a host of players to share points with.

That's the key for me. So many United players currently on form. No better example than Young arguably being their best player two games running, then being rested next game and them still winning 5-0... and none of the goals came from Rooney!

It's hard to not fill your team with United players, because we all know they're up for this run-in... but picking an individual to be worthy of captaincy is another thing entirely.

One thing I noticed is that when Valencia is in the team, Rooney's points seem to suffer. I don't know if it's because he sits deeper or they just pass the ball to Valencia alot, but I've definitely noticed it

Actually looking back at the stats, that's not true. It was just a few games over the Xmas period where Rooney was rested/injured

Gone back over on my idea of Valencia to RVP.
He's the safe option and i guess can use the others as better differentials. Just Villa have looked pretty tidy at the back of late, and RVP missed a few v Everton.

Prob make a rash move at 11:29am tomorrow!

Think it's the other way around mate. Rooney often gets on the end of Valencia's crosses. In fact they are known to have a bit of a combo going.

Rooney's points in the last 8 matches both him and Valencia have started together (excluding the Newcastle game as Valencia was at RB) :

    v Wolves 12 points

    v QPR 7 points

    v Fulham 7 points

    v Bolton 6 points

    v Arsenal 2 points

    v Chelsea 12 points

    v Liverpool 13 points

    v Wolves 5 points

What is swaying me away from van Persie is that Arsenal played on Wednesday night, and Villa last played 2 weeks ago. In theory, Villa should be fresh and Arsenal should be at least slightly flat, so we should expect a tighter game than we would have under normal circumstances.

United will have had 8 days rest and are at home to a Fulham side with a dreadful away record, and will be gunning to cut City's goal difference.

    Rooney for me.......

Hopefully RVP gets 1 only today...somehow i expect Villa to be a little better than everyone is expecting them to be today....

Few would argue against United putting more past Fulham than Arsenal against Villa... but that's not really the point. With Young, Val, Welbeck, Hernandez, etc all in good-to-excellent form, Rooney is one of at least 5 who can take the glory. Arsenal, on the other hand, pretty much only have two; RVP and Walcott, with RVP being by far the most important player of any of the "top teams" in terms of how needed he is for goals.

So yeah... United to win bigger, but RVP to be more of a focal point in the smaller win. It really isn't as simple as which team scores more. It's not far from a coin-toss at this stage.

Fulham to hold out for a plucky 0-0 draw would suit me fine :p .Leaving it another week before I get in Rooney.

Think I'm going with Valencia. Siggy got two against Fulham last week and he had more space to play than Graham which, by my logic, means that Rooney may be crowded out and Valencia will sneak a trio into the net :D

Personally I have a bad feeling about Arsenal today. Given the circumstances over the rest both sides have had, something like 1-1 wouldn't surprise me. They already drew with Fulham and Wolves at the Emirates this season, two teams with truly dreadful away records.

I can see van Persie getting maybe a maximum of 9 points, however Rooney could potentially get 13/16 points.

I actually predict van Persie will get 2 points, and Arsenal to be shocking and either scrape a 1-0 win or draw 1-1. (he's going to score a hattrick now:p)

Believe in Wenger! He's taking his team to 3rd spot while England-bound 'arry and co capitulate. Goal and assist for Robin today! 3-1 or 2-0.

Anyone else regretting having Vp as captain instead of rooney for this week...ah sure we weren't to know. Hope its not going to be like this for the rest of the season

Rooney hasn't done anything yet! Absolutely worried to see RVP get nothing in a 3-0 win, but won't be kicking myself until we see what Rooney does.
