    Howya lads.

Do any of ye use lamb jackets on the newborns. They seemed a great idea last week when I bought them but now as I'm only days away from lambing I'm not too sure. What with the forecast for the next few days would the roast the poor divils during the day? I know they would be a great help for the chilly nights though.

At present with the weather forecast I would not use them unless you have a fox problem they are handy or for when you are expecting hard wet weather and you want to get lambs out of the shed especially if they are suffocks. It is years since I had sheep ( and then I had only about fifteen) but I had one ewe that lambed in january after about 3 days it rained heavy they were outside since birth one of the twinsa got puenomia I got a injection for him and got a plastic shopping cut it in half lenght ways put the carrier handle over his head and cut a hole for his tail in the bottom corner wrapped it on with insulating tape and cornered them in for a couple of days it worked he survived until he ended up in the freezer

I'll be lambing outside this year on the hill so it's a little colder than the cozy shed. Foxes are a constant threat but I don't want to overheat the lamb during the day. I'll be mulling this over in me head for the feckin night :D:D

The coats are to keep the rain off. And also a bit of protection from wind. The last thing you would want is a wet lamb and a strong wind blowing. Hypothermia sets in very quickly in that situation.

Sunshine would not bother lambs with them on, plenty of ventilation on them
