Only if you are going the Coilte route.

Once again I'll try to break a lance for a NPWS organised and supervised national exam to obtain a hunting licence, deer and small game all on the one hunting licence. And if you'd combine it with a set of safe handling questions and a practical handling test with deactivated guns and deactivated ammo you can do it all in the one indoor session.

Hunting licence, proof of proficiency and all would be sorted at the one stop shop and if you set some sort of a Garda suitability cert as an entrance critirium you have the lot including a smooth fireams cerificate process sorted.

Thanks ,but no thanks! We mightnt be perfect here in our firearms laws and hunting. But an EU diktat with that sort of BS run either privately or by the statewould be a sickner for here. Its nice to have the freedom to do somthing here without busybodies ands meddlesome burrocrats interfereing with EVERY aspct of our lives...I've done the hunting test on the continent and no doubt if we did introduce it here it would be 1000 times worse than anything they could dream up over there!

IF you insist on doing somthing like this..Why not use the US NRA[After all we DO like to compare ourslves to the USA when it suits us!] Hunters saftey course.Takes appx six hours to do both theory and practical, without alot of stuffing and tedious BS that the European courses have.

Grizzly, I suppose we'll agree to disagree on that one. Something that gets under my skin though is that there appears to be some skullduggery - nearly continiously by the looks of it - going on by some organisation or other to try and put their stamp on whatever is going on deer hunting wise. That's if the rumours that surface here every once in while are something to go by.

On that point I'd certainly agree with you RE skullduggery.
Hence the reason I'd be VERY reluctant to even moot any further ideas of hunting liscenses, good, bad or indifferent. As somone will be trying to sink thei greedy paws into that particular pie.

One should never look at what benefits laws might bring, rather what great harm they might do.
Mis quoting Ben Franklin. But he has a valid point.;)
