M1 this evening, two separate incidents within 20 mins

Riding north on M1 around 6:40, a white van seems to have ran into a small black hatchback, a little north of Swords exit. The contact seems to have pushed the car hard, it has crashed into the steel bars on the left, and has left some debris (rear light clusters etc) on the middle of the road - motorcyclists keep an eye out.

Further 10 mins up the road, just before the Exit 6 (Naul?), there's what looks like much more serious incident on the fast / overtaking lane. Possibly three cars involved, if not four. And a silver Golf looks in pretty bad way with it's front looks badly damaged, smoking badly etc. No one looked hurt, but strangely enough they seems to be standing around the cars - which I think is extremely dangerous - as rest of the traffic is coming up and breaking hard at the last minute, with at least one SUV couldn't stop in time in front of me, and they had to wee/r off into the emergency lane and partially into the grass outside.

I hope no one is seriously hurt in either of these incidents. There was some fog in the area, but visibility was perfectly fine. Further up the road, going thru Julianstown, going past that narrow bridge in the village, car ahead of me threw themselves into the opposite lane, and only then I noticed there was this huge horse, completely black and very invisible, just inches off to the left on the shoulder / cycle lane, with nervous owner trying to control him/her..!!

Mcmmmxvivcxlmm counted 3 incidents and the thread title said 2 on the m1. The third happened in Julianstown Village, which is not on the m1 (as I dont have to tell you).

The M1 Northbound can be so frustrating in the evening when you have to dwadle along on the 'overtaking' lane doing 80kmph and often less. Why is it that peole are not capable (or couldn't give a sh1te about anyone else but myself) of driving at more than this speed on a Motorway? This leads to a buildup of frustration and people dangerously tailgaiting trying to encourage the guys in front to either speed up of pull over, all to no avail of course. There was another thread on here recently in which a number of contributors said that they would deliberately slow down (foot off the gas and drop a cog!!) in these circumstances so its no bloody wonder these accidents happen. However, the primary culprits are the 80kmph drivers .. cop on for petes sake and either speed up or get into left lane .. its not like you are in a bloody rush now is it? Could save an awful lot of grief for a lot of people ...

Seen this last night at the Naul exit, was wondering what sort of stupidity could have caused this. Lots of people tear down the overtaking lane then nip off the Naul exit at the last min...That Golf looked a mess!!

This is very common on the Drogheda South/Julianstown Exit also. Its after this point that traffice on overtaking line lane open up as a lot of the lane hoggers have swerved across to dart up exit .. will never understand it!
