Where's all my HDD space gone?

I have an MBP with a 250GB hard drive.
Currently there are only 69GB left.
If I check the "my name" folder (e.g. the one with all my photos, music, documents), it's 119GB. I can't understand where the other space has gone. Just a few months ago there was over 130GB left, and I can't think of any program I've installed that could use up so much space.
Is there anywhere else I can check? Or are there programs?
I've used "Clean My Mac" to remove caches, trash, etc, but it didn't make a huge difference.

This application will do the job:

    'Disk Inventory X' (http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/14393/disk-inventory-x)

This shows you graphically which files are largest on your HD. If you spot something that shouldn't be there, the app will take you there through finder, and you can do what you want to the file

Thanks, that helps a bit but it only finds 150GB of my 250GB. I was able to delete a handful of files but nothing huge.

This one also shows me only 150GB. I guess there are some locked system files that can't be accessed by the programs.

Just go to the root of your hard drive, right-click, Get Info on all of the folders and see which is unusually large.

Do you have a Bootcamp partition? Or do you use a VM to run Windows?

Open the Terminal app. ( in utilities folder )
Cut and paste this into the command line.
    du -k * | sort -n

There will be a delay and then you will get a list of files in ascending order of file size. Check the ones at the bottom of the list

I'll try this when I get home today.
The two programs mentioned above were quite good, but there were a lot of files that they could not show. They would be a good way to clean up your "name" folder though.
