What does it say on your amazon account and the invoice for the product?

Did you purchase your item in sterling or a currency other than euro?

It's not amazon who charged you the handling fee it's your bank/credit card,it relates to the currency conversion as you paid in pounds and not euro.

+1, saw this on my credit card statement. You can keep note of the euro price you were offered by amazon, I have done this in the past and it was always cheaper to have paid in sterling, even with this fee.

This is a BOI credit card fee - im not sure if AIB etc have something similar. I spend alot of my time in the north and I get charged using it in any shop there etc. They must of made quite alot at this stage off me:rolleyes:

If AIB or any others banks do not have an explicit handling fee then it is probably still there, just masked in the form of an expensive/bad exchange rate.

In my experience most online shops will have an even worse rate though.

Always cheaper to pay in sterling on amazon but use euro if using paypal for ebay etc. At least that's how it works out when you use an Ulster bank Debit card, could be different depending on your bank charges.
