Changing Car with PMC

Hi have my car 2 years under the Disabled drivers and passengers scheme and am shopping around looking for prices on changing over.

Originally it cost me 3k but that included the price of the adaption which was nearly 2k. I traded in a 2 year old car.

However now I'm being quoted the same price just to change even though I already have the adaption. I have a Ford Focus, alloys, bluetooth, metallac. Low mileage, spotless condition that is going to be traded in. I would have thought that a new car less vrt and vat would be nearly the same as the 2 year old car?

I know I have to pay for the adaption to be moved over but they also want 3k on top of my car. Does that seem reasonable after the vrt and vat are removed.

Also I'm thinking of an estate version. I have the hatchback. Will an estate loose a lot more value than a hatchback over the next 2 years?

    Would love some opinions.:)

I'm sure someone here will be able to give you the cost of the new car less vat and vrt so that you will know where you stand.
I think there is some rule also regarding the adaptation having to cost a certain percentage of car cost.

Thanks for your reply. I have the adaption in my current car so will have to pay a small changeover fee. In total including the adaption I paid 3k last time to change from a 08 focus. The vast majority of that money was for the adaption.

Now they are looking 3K so I'm wondering am I getting good value or should I go elsewhere as it is 2k more than I paid last time.

I take it you are trading up to the new Focus from a 10 reg old shape Focus? If so then you have to take into account that the new Focus costs more than the old shape Focus back in 2010. As your current Focus is the old model it will have an inferior resale value than a 08 Focus would have had 2 years ago. The cost to change from old to new model is bound to be more than 2 years ago going from the old model to the same model.

Thanks Bazz. Yep it is a 10D.

Also wondering about the estate or hatchback? Estate is probably more practical but will it lose an awful lot of value compared to the hatchback?

    Thanks for replies guys.:)
