More than likely doing this charity race (its an organisation helping people with sight loss) as a tune up for Rotterdam marathon.

    2 lapper ROUTE HERE

Price is €22 inc chip timing. Register HERE.

May suit people looking for a little relative sharpening before a Spring marathon or looking to race that weekend.

    Info about charity here

That looks pretty good, have been looking for something around this time frame. Can't beat 2 laps in and out of the furry glen!

It will be great for those of us who were too late to register for conemara :o

+1 great running. The PP always adds time to a race time

I think that the course was short - 6.13m on the Garmin and my training has been poor and I still got a sub 40 time (14th, 39:31).

Despite that, I am happy with my performance.

Its was a great race today in perfect conditions! No complaints at all, came in #20 @ 41:00...

Was the 7km marker in the wrong place? Should of been before the 2km one not after, I think... Maybe the two were swapped?

I feel that it was - my 7km was 5m29s and my 8km was 2m17s.

Also, I did not see a timing mat at the start - if that was the case it kinda defeats the purpose of chip timing.

Yea that's why you don't have a gun and chip time. It was the same down at the Waterford half marathon.

Yep, 7K marker was definitely in wrong place. My garmin had the course at 6.19 , which allowing for all the twists and turns, and following the shortest route on the bends etc.. would say the distance was near enough if not bang on. Well done to NCBI for putting on a most enjoyable event. Great weather which was a bonus.

but 10k is 6.21 miles so I would expect to run longer than that as I rarely take the shortest route.

The biggest indicator to me was my time - I haven't run a sub 40 10k since the Great Ireland Run in 2010.

Thanks lads. Course was very tough, 2 times up that hill out of the glen, poxy. I had it at 6.19 on the garmin so Im not sure if the course was short or bang on. There were a lot of turns and sharp bends so maybe thats where the discrepency is coming from?? Not sure, but I'm gonna e-mail the organisers and ask them how the course was measured. The one thing that should be put above all others in a race is that the distance is accurate, no excuses for it not being so.

I ran this race yesterday and was very happy with it. The number pick-up was quick and easy, there was tea and coffee available beside the registration desk, there was a small baggage area there too. The race started promptly at 10:00. There were cups of water at halfway and a bottle of water was handed to me just after crossing the line. There was also a goody bag and a medal, but I really just wanted the water. It was helped too by the weather, dry, bright, cool and little or no wind, a perfect day for running.

The course, with 2 climbs out of the Furry Glen, was a bit tough, but not as bad as the Great Ireland Run course. My Garmin had the course a bit short too, but any GPS watch is prone to inaccuracy. Looking at the map of my run on Garmin Connect shows quite a disparity between the 2 laps especially through the Furry Glen, yet I know I took exactly the same course each time, the shortest route, tight to the corners.

All in all, very happy that I opted for this race over the GIR.

Agreed - I was concerned about the early race number pickup time (I don't leave my house until 9am or slightly later for a 10am race - cycling to the start line is convenient) but I'd checked with the race organiser. I saw people collect at 9:50.

I love small races over large ones like GIR (though I am entered in it too) - more likely to start on time and more road space right from the start.
