Dublin question

Perhaps a researcher in Dublin can help me.

In 1918 I have a baby born in The Coombe Hospital and the parents lived at nearby Meath Place.

For 1918 was it still the norm to have the child at home (suggests a problem?) and if the child was baptised in the hospital who would keep a record of the baptism....the local parish?

What would the local RC parish be for Meath Place/The Coombe?

Records should have been recorded in the appropriate parish..

The closest parish church to Meath Place would be Francis St. / St. Nicholas of Myra.

Not sure where the Coombe Hosp was then... doesn't seem to be at the location it is now

The Coombe Lying in Hospital was located in the Coombe, close to the junction with Meath Street - so I'd say also Francis St. parish.

Many thanks Shane, I have sent a request to the parish.

Definitely normal to have babies at home right up until the 1960s.

St Nicholas' have an archivist so hopefully she'll get back to you quickly. They were helpful to me before when checking records post the NLI cutoff.

St Catherine's of Meath Street might be another possibility.

managed to miss that - it's definitely closer to Meath place than St. Nicholas...

The old Coombe hospital was about equal distance for both

OK thanks both, I'll see what St Nicholas have to say and I'll look at st Catherines if I have no joy.
