Hi guys, pretty much as the title suggests- long story short there was an installer out to change the ariel for saorview and drop lines etc, so I asked him to set up the tv in the room to work both saorview and the sky via a magic eye. There was no eye available to test at the time and when I got one it wouldn't work. The line is operating along the lines of back out of the sky box, into the attic and down into a conduit that already had an existing cable in it. I asked him about it and he said its his fault etc, was just under pressure to get jobs done, and that he'd fix it. However I asked him today about it and if I could do it and he said I could, I'd have to remove the plate off the wall, take out some silver thing and 50/50 the cable, however I'm not sure what 50/50 the cable actually means? Therefore, any help or pointing in the right direction would be greatly appreciated :)

    Cheers

And what's "some silver thing"? Would recommend that you just get the installer back to finish the job, but if you want to diy, might be no harm to post a photo here of the inside of the wallplate.

I would assume its either the shield or the actual connection in the plate- my assumption is that I'm supposed to marry the two centers of either cable together in order to get the eye working.

I have a picture of the plate and will upload when I get near a pc.

The plate will only be a problem if it's the isolated type which won't pass DC power to the magic eye.

I think he means take out the connection plate on the reverse side of the wall plate leaving a little hole in the middle of it allowing you to join the existing cable to the one coming from rf2 fairly neatly using f connectors and a barrell.
