Is the ASI updated on a continuous, individual record basis, or is it amended periodically on a wider basis?
1998 seems to be the last national update.
There are some records in the SMR which I am particularly interested in, but the details are unavailable - are they unavailable because they are in the process of being updated/amended?

Its continually reviewed, The website doesn't have all sites on it as of yet, and it probably will be a while yet before everything is up. If your feeling frisky you can go up to Dublin and view the paper file.

Send me a PM if you want to know how to go about doing this.

I have a hard copy of the inventory for Wicklow (1997 ed.) - just wondering if many more sites have been added in the past fifteen years.

Sites that have been found and excavated in the past 15 years are being added (usually stuff found during commercial rescue excavations i.e. roads, housing estates etc).

I have no idea in waht order they are being added to archaeology.ie The best thng seems to be to keep an eye on the website. New files are being added all the time.

As new sites are identified they are added to the ASI database which (it is intended) are updated instantly on archaeology.ie. However the RMP maps and manuals issued in the 1990s are the statuatory lists of monuments protected by the act. This is not likely to be reissued any time soon though.
