Print out some copies of your CV and approach companies directly. Make sure you speak with the HR or a manager of some sort.
@Rover James, it is yes. You can create email alerts too. What would you suggest the OP do?

The chap asked does anyone know of transport companies hiring, I cannot see who typing driving jobs in to google and providing a link to the results could be anyway helpful. You could do that with most questions asked on any forum.

I have searched on google and checked
all the job sites and I do this everyday.
What I'm asking is there anyone out there
with knowledge of any truck driving jobs going,
Sometimes companies don't advertise they use
word of mouth and ask other employes and friends.

Its fairly tough out there OP. My dad has been out of work for a year and only gotten a few weeks casual work here and there. And he has every licence going and over 30 years experience.

    Best of luck to you.

Unfortunatley experience can be a problem but I definitly think the only way to do it is keep dropping in to all haulier's yards and ask for a chat with the transport manager. They most likely wont have a truck parked up waiting for you to take out on the road but leave them a cv and don;t be afraid to drop back in every few weeks to see if anythin comes up. Offer to cover for sick days at short notice, thats a good way to ensure you are next on the list for a position. Once they see you have a good willingness to work and take care of their equipment you'll be worth gold dust to them.

A lot of bigger outfits have lads going on holidays at the moment, my transport manager nearly burst into tears when I told him I had 20 days to take.

They don't want trucks parked in the yard so might be worth offering youself as a relief driver.

A lot of crowds like Stobart are paying crap money and have loads of stupid rules and regulations. I had my own but I sold up because I was digging a big hole for myself. You may be better off working for a guy with just a few trucks so you are not treated like a number etc..

Have you thought about agency work? It might give you a foot in the door somewhere.
