Was out looking at a few in the Melleary and The Vee area of Co.Waterford this morning bright and early.I think coillte will be stuck with a few this year. The farmer up there told us people with lamps and dogs still hunting them. Not much showing up there at all.Wont be putting in a bid for what i saw this morning.

Came across them not far from there (4 or 5 miles away) last weekend at about 8.30am.
Unfortunatlely they were too far away to positively identify and I wasn't in a position to see where they went but there were four of them with a deer and 5 or 6 large dogs.

Yeah its a joke Coillte are the ones making money out of it and offering no real service.Just give them the money and they dont want to know anymore about people poching on a lease that some lads have paid them money for. They will wake up when its too late as they will be left with leases .Who is going to pay for woods with fu@k all in them.

When you pay for a lease, the sporting rights become yours, its up to you to mind/protect them, and your right coillte probably dont care, timber is their business not deers, they need deers shot and are happy to be paid for getting this done.
Some poor divils think their paying a fortune to Coillte for a lease at say 5K,this always make me laugh, the wood their in could be worth 20 million,so,you got it in 1,they dont care, why would they .
And the chances of them getting left with woods is more or less nil, theirs already a famine for shooting for next year, and with the amount of hcaps being completed year after year, the only way lease prices are going is up,you might dissagree with all this, but you'll see i'm right in the long run.

I know of a lease in Cahir that was making 20k.Lad had it had 20lads at 1k a pop.Not this year he cant get 20 people with 1k to spare.I dont agree prices are going up.I think down and i hope they come down. And on the issue of sporting rights becoming yours when you pay for them.Maybe they do but only on Coilltes terms. Its a cheap way out for them.Below are some of the terms and conditions,,,
No assurances are made that these figures are achievable, and these cull figures may vary annually.
Concurrent Rights (deer licences only) – Where indicated in the catalogue, the licence period of licensed areas subject to Concurrent Rights are restricted to weekends, bank holidays and National holidays only on or after the 15th of November annually. It is Coillte’s intention to undertake direct culling operations of female and non-antlered deer in these areas during weekdays after this date...
These concurrent rights dont make you the sole sporting right holder.

well lads im here in the wicklow area and there is only one or two places on offer but again they are beside the back roads so therefore been lamped all night and besides i was really reading up on this leasing areas now maybe its just one or two areas but the total your suppose to cull is 2 to 4 stags and 4 to 7 female for the whole season jaysus those prices paying for leasing surely would not be worth the value out of it at all

agree, stupid prices for the hunting you would be getting. but i'm sure there's money burning a hole in someone's pocket! id say there will be a few more wicklow woods come up for tender later on, but you would have to be very sure of what you're getting.

very true there lad most lads get theses woods and have no idea that there is nothing in the bloody thing either that or poached unreal

and be very very careful about who else is on the lease. iv been on woods before with lads that shouldn't be allowed into a wood with deer in it, especially not in a jeep with fast electric windows!!
