Hey. I'm thinking of buying a car and i was wondering what people's views are on the up coming changes in the tax system for low emmissions cars.

Will the tax go up on both a 07 and 08 cars or will the cars with the really low car tax go up closer to a 07 and older models l,evel of tax. The thing is the car I want to buy happens to be 07 and I have it in my head that the tax will not go up anymore on these cars. Its enough as it is!!:pac:

Just buy the car if it's the one you want, its the post 08 tax rates that are going to be affected the most and you will get better value on the 07 car.. Dont let the tax influence your decision too much it's a minor cost difference in the ownership of the car. I presume it's a 1.9?

Go for the value in the 2007, you'll be kicking yourself when the 2008 motor tax gets more aligned with the 2007 rates. The perceived additional value of the 2008 will soften, i.e. depreciate a bit harder than expected.

It is hard to tell what fiddling the Goverment are going to do with the tax system. One thing for sure imo is that the gap in motor tax between a car on the old engine size system and a similar car on the newer system will be vastly narrowed in the next budget.
