If youre thinking engine swap; Have you thought about how little the difference in tax is between 1.9 and 2.5, the cost of a conversion, the insurance implications, and the resale being as difficult if not more difficult than a normal 2.5?

If you mean changing cars, it's also not worth it..

From here fill in the RF111 and send it and the vehicle registration certificate to your local motor tax office. You'll need a garage stamp on the RF111 due to the engine change.

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

    Welcome to boards :)

Before you go ahead with the work and start to do any legal stuff, you need to ask your insurance company (and other insurance companies) will they cover you after the conversion. It is very well possible that they will not insure you or only insure you for much more money. Or they might insist on an engineers report, which would cost you a lot of money too.

Have you thought of selling your car (perhaps in a different country than Ireland ;)) and buying a 1.9 here? Might be a bit of a profit in that even for you as cars of that age are cheaper here than anywhere else in Europe

I've done engine swaps in the past without any major hassle.
It shouldn't cause any real problem for the insurers as the car is available normally with the engine you plan to put in, this means they will have a neat dropdown on their system for the "new" car and they'll just select the 1.9TDI A6 option as if the car was always that way.
It would be more likely to cause hassle if you were putting in an engine size that wasn't normally available in that model - an engine from another brand for example.
That's my experience anyway, of course it would be better to check with your insurance company first.
