paying VAT on tax

    I just noticed on my airtricity gas bill, in paying carbon tax and then i pay VAT on this tax! is this right/legal?

    Is this a tax on the supplier (Airtricity) and not the customer (you) which they are choosing to itemise the cost of which separately the way that Ryanair does?

    VAT is applied to everything on your bill. So yes, of course it's legal.

    ok i guess, i just wanted to make sure its correct becuase it feels wrong tbh. im glad im getting "Value" on that added tax!
