It is 11:23pm on Friday March 21st, 1684. You are in the bedroom of an olde inn. A candle flickers near the bedroom door. There is a wooden chest to your left. Something sparkles and catches your eye on the floor to your right. You can hear footsteps creaking up the wooden stairs.

    Open chest

A Gargoyle the size of a small family cat, climbs out of the chest. "Hello, my name is Stuart" he says.

Ask Stuart if he knows the answer to Pyong's cryptic Pictionary drawing.

Reach into chest and get Playstation and Skyrim

You reach in to the chest and carefully feel around the dark bottom. You find nothing. The footsteps are getting louder and closer.

I cannot do that. Try searching the room? The footsteps are almost at the door.

Search the room Stuart! Quick! I still can't get out of bed without my crutch after taking an arrow to the knee.

You search the room. Stuart is not listening. You find a glistening, shining sword on the floor to your right. Time is almost up, the footsteps are at the door.

Man! I used to Love muds - few heavily modified Diku muds like HoloMud and JediMud took up a good chunk of my college years..

    ask who is it?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,328 ✭✭✭Pyongyang

You look down at the bottom of the door. A shaft of flickering torchlight turns to shadow as the footsteps arrive at the door. Before you can ask who is at the door, you struggle to speak as you see the doorknob begin to twist and the door slowly begin to open...

Knock Stuart out with hilt of the sword.

    Place him in the bed.

Stand behind door ready with sword in hand.

Genius move! You swiftly dispatch Stuart and dump his cadaver in to the bed. You stand behind the door and hold your breath as you watch a guard armed with a sword, slowly creeping toward your bed.

I remember playing one of these when i was very young... I'm assuming it was on the C64 because thats all we had then.

The one thing i remember that if you typed N it would take you north, W for west and so on.

I must have been fairly young because thats all i really remember... And getting frustrated with it when my replies wouldnt work.
Wonder what game it was... must ask my older brother.

Lord Of Midnight? That was one of the most glorious, epic text adventures ever made.

Right up there with Zork and it's sequels I think.

Slowly creep up behind the guard and slit his throat.

This is all getting very macabre!
