Question for any Gardai around here

We were wondering about this in the Classic Cars forum - here's the thread

    Facts:

Classic cars over 30 years old can get a ZV license plate (old style)
Only classic cars first registered on or before 31/12/1979 are NCT exempt

    Questions:

Do most Gardai know these facts. Do they check if a ZV license plate (or other old style pre '87 plate for that matter) car needs an NCT and actually has a valid one? Or do they just let the car on its way - it's a classic car after all?

Does the Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system know this and prompts if a ZV car that needs an NCT does not have a current NCT?

    Thanks for your help!

Anything under 1980s is exempt. Simples

All we have to do is do a check on the vehicle through Pulse and it shows the first registration of the vehicle (first reg.....not first reg in the state so even if its an import it shows when it first saw service)

Don't think we can really go onto ANPR too much, but in regards NCT for these, no it doesn't show.
