Not watched the video, but I reckon I have seen almost all of them anyway.

His 3 best goals which spring immediately to mind are

The 2nd against Real last season where Busquets just gave it to him, and Messi proceded to draw a map for Syrian rebels.

The goal against Zaragosa in 2010 where he was fouled 3 times during his mazey run before slotting it away.

The goal Vs Getafe where he did an identi-kit to Maradonas one against England.

An honourable mention goes to his headed effort against Man U in the CL final 2009. It was not an easy as he had to turn and tilt his head in order to get it on target.

He is pure class and there is lots more to come.

plus, i'm sorry, even if you did only see Maradona in his pomp, the likelihood is you saw him at the World Cup, and highlights from Argentinian, Italian and Spanish leagues.

he'd have never been under a tenth of the media scrutiny where every single game is watched an dissected like Messi's would be now. i really do struggle to believe that Maradona was better than what we're seeing right now from this man over this sustained period of time.

Out of curiousity, does anyone know what the record is for most club goals in a major league? I know Pele is credited at over 1000, but that includes frendlies and exhibition matches and everything. Wiki says 707 (including 27 that are listed as other, whatever they are) excluding those goals. I'm assuming Messi's 234 are only competitive?

Considering his age, I can see him pushing it close at worst if he stays injury free for the most part.

The assist for goal no 196 is by far the pick..I couldn't believe he got that shot away from his original position at the time and I still can't.

From everything I've seen, yes Maradona was amazingly good.

But when you look at Messi's contribution, it's pretty much impossible to say where he could possibly be improved upon.

That being the case, one would say that they should be fairly similar in quality. Both add incredible amounts to their team. The quantifiable thing we have is goals. And Messi is just a mile ahead.

These are Maradona's European club stats. They really are just not a patch on Messi's. They're good obviously, but Messi really does bring it to the next level adding goals and assists in insane quantities to go along with his incredible general play.
