hi just looking to see if anyone knows bout the stanley brandon range/cooker,i recently got an electrician to wire it,the circulating pump does not knock off when room stats closes motorised valves and signals burner to knock off, pump keeps running, its just circulating round bypass fitted beside range as it has nowhere to go when all valves are closed,i rang electrician and he told me he wired it according to wiring diagram and that its an overrun on pump, should it be wired along with burner to knock on and off at same time?thanks for any info on this.

It is a pump over run to dissipate heat out of the boiler. It should knock off eventually.

cheers, was concerned about pump as it sounded under pressure when valves was closed i could hear it getting louder, also would it be putting pressure on expansion pipe and be pumping in to header tank i haven,t checked that out yet,

If the system is fully zoned, every system with pump over-run or frost stat, etc. must have an automatic bypass valve installed. You will otherwise burn out the pump when it is pumping against a closed circuit.

yea the circuit is fully zoned and has a bypass on flow and return at boiler,is that enough for pump to circulate until pump knocks off?sorry for all the questions...

That depends on the bypass you have installed. If it is an automatic one then it may be set too high. If it is a manual one it may be cranked to low.

It may also be too close to the boiler. They ideally need a but of a run.

thanks, yea is a manual by pass,it was on installation manual not to place bypass anymore than 4meters from boiler,it was the only place it could be located as hotpress is bout 8 meters away.will open bypass valve a little more

If there are zone valves then it would be best to fit an automatic bypass.
