    hi

I have a hp pavillion dv6000 that wouldn't turn on over the weekend , I brought it off to be repaired and was told that the main board is gone adn that it can't be fixed.

Is this a regular occurance ? I am led to believe that with the unit being 5 yrs old that it can occur.
What is the best fix here? can i buy a motherboard and replace it?

    or
jsut splash out on anew laptop? Now i know nothing regarding current RAM or memory sizes so if looking for a new laptop, what should i be looking for? currently all i do with it is listen to music , netflix, surf the net and use it store photos.

    any help appreciated..]

The common problem in those laptops were graphic chip which overheating, but sometimes just the mobo dead itself, so if You get a chance buy new laptop. In my opinion it isn't worth to fix Pavillion.

I have the same laptop. Mine is dv6095ea. I fixed mine by completely dismantling it and heating a chip on the motherboard to resolder the joints that had melted when it over heated. There is a video on youtube.
